hI, i'M EMILY
The face behind Bucking Dun Photography.
I was raised on a small farm in Vermont, where my love for animals, open spaces, and storytelling through photos first began. After attending college in Wyoming, I fell in love with the west, its wide-open skies, rugged beauty, and cowboy way of life. Though I returned to Vermont for a few years, my heart never left the west. Eight years later, my dun mare, Dakota, and I made our way back. Today, we call Idaho home.
Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a kid I was usually sneaking off with my mom’s camera, capturing scenes from around the farm and snapshots of my friends. In 2018, while living in Wyoming, I decided to upgrade from my cell phone to a “real” camera so I could better capture the landscapes and wildlife I loved so much. A year later, my hobby grew into a part-time business, and Bucking Dun Photography was born, named in honor of Dakota, my spirited dun mare.
I’m passionate about capturing the beauty of the West, from sweeping landscapes and wildlife to families, couples, and the cowboy way of life. When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me working as a ranch hand at Leadore Angus alongside my fiancé, living the very lifestyle I love to photograph.
